I hope I can be of help. I remember term papers, research papers and the joy of no sleep..LOL I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Marshall University with my RN, BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) I bet that is what your going for. Ok...I am also on Methadone and an advocate. Plus, I have my own video that I sell to clinics for use with new patients and run my own website at http://findingnormal.webs.com/ So, now that I have tooted my own horn..LOL Let me see if I can give you some links to help. BTW, our student library gave us the right to view online medical journals without joining and paying to sign up. You may want to check into that because working from home you usually only have access to the abstract which is not enough. Also, whenever you use a great article look at the references to find more to use. Now try these..

These are just a few of many. Like I said look at your references. Also, to answer your question. Pain relief can be less effective for those in MMT however, it needn't be. It just takes a doctor who knows what their doing and some trial and error plus compassion and understanding of addiction to help ease the pain of MMT patients. I know about that too. I have terminal liver cancer also from HCV contracted while a nurse. :) Good Luck in your nursing career. God Bless!

Hydrocordone and Methadone user?

I am currently taking Norco 10 mg 6 times daily and 20 mg's of Methadone. From what I am learning I trust that the Subutex is going to help me with the withdraws from Hydrcordone. However, I am concerned about the Methadone. Will Subutex work equally well for the withdraws from Methadone?

I'm sure you have heard it a thousand times but really, nothing will work unless you want to really quit! My ex took 70mg of methodone a day at the clinic and an occasional loratab when he would take 2 doses in one day! He was horrible on that stuff but anyways he went to rapid detox in New Orleans. I don't know if you know about it, but they give you a shot that immediatly take hydrocodone out of your system and you shit yourself and throw up for a few days but after that you won't have the long term withdrawals and cravings. They put him on depression medicine after that and he did okay for a year after that and didn't constantly, or ever go out searching for drugs that I know of. Sorry for the long answer...hope I helped. No, Subutex doesn't work. It is just another drug that you will be dependent on. The only reason Methodone clinics exist is because they don't want ppl on the streets or robbing places so they can get cash to score, because you know like I do that they will.

Is Methadone a new drug of choice for the recreational user as well as the addict?

I just started hearing about methadone being used recreationally. I know what it is for but am curious why it is being used recreationally and is it now easy to get?

Methadone is a synthetic opiate with several uses. It is used to aid Heroin addicts to taper off the (heroin) they are using so that they can get sober. It is also used humanitarily for pain for terminally ill patients. Do you seriously want to try this stuff??? It is actually more physically addictive than Heroin itself.
Not a good idea,at all.

What is your opinion of Methadone distribution in the UK?

Pharmacies in the UK distribute Methadone to Heroin users to help them to eliminate the use of heroin, reducing the death rates and criminality associated with heroin use, and allows patients to improve their health and social productivity.

Is it good in Islam to help these people? Or are we (by paying taxes) encouraging them to take heroin; and even if they do they know they can easily get help?

my partner has a severe neck problem ,when it kicks in she is in extreme pain and ends up unable to move for up to two weeks and then another two weeks to get mobile again ,she went into the chemist to pick up an emergency script for anti inflamitrese, she was in extreme pain and she was made to wait for 30min as everytime she was due to be served a junkie would come in and all non junkie customers were ignored until they were given their bit on the side methadone, now i know there are some legite people with a heavy habit that are genuinly trying to go clean but for every one thers ten topping up metadone with blues smack and any other downer they can get their hands on,and you are correct we the hard working 9-5 brigaide are footing the bill ,i resent completely this service it is a massive failure ,it is a top up funded by you and me.politicians have not got a clue as the have no concept of the street.FACT.when my lottery ticket comes in i will buy a island with bad weather as many killer infections as i can afford ,because i do,nt think the death rate should be reduced we should increase it !.no one goes down that road blind so let them reap what they sow,and save you and me a few bob i can think of a million and one things i would rather have my large tax bill spent on.they are takers and will take at every operchancity.anyone who thinks differently is unaware of how these people operate.wake up political correctness has gone way way over the top.

HIV/AIDS May be Fueled by War on Drugs

“The Vienna Declaration is basically a scientific statement from the scientific community about the harms of illegal drugs in our society, and drawing important attention to the fact that many of the policies, which are in place around the world – this notion of sort of a war on drugs and this over emphasis on law enforcement does more harm than good,” he says.

Locking up drug users is a failed strategy, says the declaration.

“The war on drugs has failed to achieve its stated objectives in terms of reducing drug supply or use.  And on the contrary, if you look at all the international surveillance systems, the prices of drugs continue to go down; and the purity of drugs continues to go up. And that’s despite ever increasing numbers of individuals that we’re locking up.” says Wood.

What’s more, he says, incarcerating all those arrested on drug use charges is “hemorrhaging taxpayers’ dollars.”

Impatient Methadone User - Drugs.com

I have been disabled for a year and now the doctor's are doing pain management. I was on heavy amounts of hydrocodone and the doctor was worried about addiction so he put me on Methadone . It makes me so tired and sick, I am only up to 30mg a day. It seems that this med. is causing a lot of side effects including visual problems. Is this usual? The pain is still unbearable from CRPS and I wake up with my hands so swollen that I cant use them. After I am up for a while the swelling goes down until late evening. Does this medication really help with pain after it has built up in your system? Is this really a dangerous painkiller? Hello, and welcome! I, too, suffer from RSD/CRPS. I tried the methadone at one point, and also had the same issues. It seems that either the methadone is the greatest thing ever or it doesn't work....no rhyme or reason to it. I also tried LES injections. I ended up switching my PM doc as the first one said it was methadone, scs, or get out of his office....
