Methadone Success

Answers

Does anybody know the success rate of going to a regular hospital to get off drugs?

A friend of mine has been going to a methadone clinic for several years. I had heard about people being admitted to a general hospital and being given something to detoxify them, but where do they go from there? Do many people ever get off drugs and stay off?

Very few get off. It's not about hospitals, drugs, doctors, group therapy or any of that BS. It's all about the individual and how bad he/she WANTS to get off. Fewer than 10% get off for good the first time. Many end up dead or in jail. It's really sad when all they have to do is make a decision to rearrange their lifestyle.

Methadone treatment.. I have suffered from dibilitating pain frm spinal stenosis for 4 years now and I have?

been on Lortab 10's for the duration..it started with taking 2 a day and has gradually built up to 5-6 a day...I still have pain and I feel like lortab has taken over my life even though I know my pain is real..I went to a pain mngmt clinic and he suggested that I take 10 mg methadone..he said I will feel like a normal person again and not have withdrawls from the lortab but the methadone will relieve the pain as well. He said methadone when taken correctly is VERY effective and is a VERY misunderstood drug. I am also having injections to see if they will help. I am already on antidepressants and high blood pressure meds but he said that is ok..Frankly just the name SCARES the hell out of me and I was wondering if anyone has had success with methadone treatment????

Methadone makes people think of heroin addicts...but it is also a very useful pain medication! It is long lasting and effective. It is an opioid, so it can have the same issues with dependence and tolerance that other opioids have, but it is a legitimate pain medication.

It is good that you are being seen in a pain management clinic, because they also have other ways of treating pain. I hope you feel better soon.

What are the pros and cons and differences between suboxone, methadone, and naltrexone for heroin addiction?

if possible, a success rate of each

they all are used to treat heroin addiction. the difference between these drugs is mainly in the setting they are used. naltrexone is used for acute heroin overdose & methadone is used for longer term to help the person stay away from more hazardous heroin. methadone is used in methadone clinics. i am sorry i dont know about success rates, but i am sure you'll get that one too from people more wiser than me... take care

I was hit with a forklift at work and have had four back surgeries, the only one that was a success was the fus

ion,I have had a spinal cord stimulator installed to help control some of the pain. But the meds that I am taking are three hundred mg lyrica 3 times a day, fentanyl 25mg,methadone 10mg 2 times a day,and the pain is still there, will the pain ever go away?

Probably not. There is probably scar tissue from the surgeries and degenerative disk disease present due to the injury if not arthritis. You will have to find alternative forms of relief such as accupuncture or talk to a sport medicine center about back exercises that strengthen the muscles that support that area and that could give you some more relief.

methadone and drug addiction?

methadone being the least effective way of dealing with addicts using heroin as it is just a bonus to top there addiction up (proven as there is only a 5% success rate at present to cure these leaches on society and doesn't reduce there crime rates i'e theft and preying on the vulnerable which is causing fear in the most vulnerable members of society and has been proven that more than 80% of crime is attributed to these people the tax payer invests huge amounts of money wouldn't it be sensible if these individuals where treated more harshly i'e cut the huge amounts of benefits they recieve which only go to fund there habits and install a more harsher regime that would take them out there environment that is designed at present to encourage there continuing drug taking.
anyone thinking that methadone is a substitute for heroin is deluding themselves as most addicts use see it as a top for diazepam and heroin all it does it curb the chaotic lifestyle heroin causes

Of course it is !

Its taxable , nice little income for the legal drug barons

Public support for a health care overhaul is slipping, according to the most recent poll by the nonprofit Kaiser Family Foundation, a health research organization.

A majority of Americans – 53 percent — say the nation’s economic problems make it “more important than ever” to revamp the health care system, according to the periodic survey, while 42 percent are opposed.

But in July a Kaiser poll found the spread to be 56 percent in favor and 39 percent opposed. And back in June Kaiser had found that 61 percent of the public supported taking action, while only 35 percent opposed it.

The most recent survey, the fifth in a series by Kaiser, was conducted by telephone Aug. 4 to 11, just as town hall meetings and rallies about health care were beginning to ramp up.

You know, articles like this are what make those of us in favor of health care reform and a strong public option lose hope. Why don’t you consider interviewing people who want reform and a strong public option and see why they feel that way?
