I am on methadone maintenance aka mmr and I have gallstones. I went to the ER twice and both times as soon as they found out I was on methadone, it was like I had a contagious terminal illness. I haven't yet received the proper care and I am in terrible pain. I need something to take for pain. Can anyone help me with the names of medications that will help me until my appointment with the surgery clinic. I AM MISERABLE!!!!
Urso Forte is used to relieve gallstones. Methadone is used for chronic pain and methadone maintanence. They treat me like I'm on heroin and I have never taken it. I'm on it for chronic pain, so they are ASSuming that that should kill your pain. Ask them for Urso Forte that is what I was on and didn't have to have surgery and got pain relief for that, they are ass-uming that you are looking for drugs.HINT: NEVER EVER go to the ER for pain unless your regular doc tells you to. You need a primary doctor. Any ER --even with my 60lbs of records still assumes I'm looking for drugs. I have had arthritis since I was 3. A different pain pill will not help your gallstones and if you asked for a certain one that may be why they saw you as a drug seeker = the methadone--face it -I know too-it has a bad rep. good luck
More crime, more robberies, more drug use. Some say those will be the consequences of the two dozen people cut from Spokane County's Methadone ...
I do have a valid license (nursing). I am waiting on a DEA Background check. I've passed the typical background check, this time and several times before. What is a DEA Check and how long does it take? I find nothing on it, except for Drs. Anyone ever had to pass one? I don't think Health is the best topic for this, however I don't see one that fits!
The DEA background check is a check to see whether or not you have ever been charged with or convicted of a narcotic-related offense. The length of time to get the results back can vary depending upon the person moving the paper (typical of government agencies)....my guess would be 2-4 weeks.

This is very common. In some ways though it is like giving them a different type of crack. The only problem with this (besides the normal side effects) is that often they become addicted to Medthadone.
Medthadone is a way to detox the addicts, with out all the nasty side effects of the normal detox shakes and cold sweats. It is normally done in a controled envirnment.
I hope this helps. I am sure
Not to sound vulgar, but I am looking for evidence (one way or the other). As a social service provider, I occasionally have to administer urine drug screenings. I had a client test POS for methadone and she claims the substance must be present due to her sexual encounter... just when I thought I had heard 'em all. I find this far fetched but need evidence...
Wow, that's quite a question. I unfortunatly have no idea what the answer would be but you can bet, I'll be watching to see what others have to say.
I've been on it for 12 years. After a surgery went bad my doctor overdosed me accidentally on methadone.I was on a external pacemaker for 72 hors. It feels like your getting punched in the heart. I've known several addicts and several pain patients on methadone. It is dangerous and once taken you'll be on it forever.A methadone clinic can help you. Do you have state assistance you can qualify for? I'm not trying to bitch it scares the hell out of me what you are about to do. But my oh my you'll be dead if you start at the methadone clinic dose of 100-150mg What you want to know is 5-10mg once or twice a day. Are you taking it for pain or addiction. Even addicts can be treated with narcotics. They just need higher doses but have a right to be treated for the pain.
First, I don't think I need it...nor would I want to. Second, thanks for sharing your experience and I hope that it may help people facing that decision.

Methadone patients hit hard by dispute @ inef.ie
Waiting outside one of the HSE’s emergency methadone clinics in Dublin yesterday evening was Dave – who did not want to give his surname – an electrician who had to leave his work early in order to get his daily prescribed methadone.
“I usually get mine at a chemist in Ballyfermot in the morning but it’s closed because of this dispute. I am used to taking it at about 11 in the morning and it’s been a long day having to go without it. This is the first day and I can see it getting tougher.”
The recovering heroin addict, who has been clean for more than 15 years, was queuing outside the emergency clinic at Dr Stevens Hospital last evening.
It opened at 5pm and by 4.30pm about 20 people were queuing outside.
It is one of three in the Dublin area opened by the HSE since Tuesday to dispense methadone to addicts who usually get their methadone from chemists closed due to the IPU dispute. Other Dublin clinics are at Amiens Street and Baggot Street.

Most of the methadone patients never bothered with the other patients. If once in a blue moon they did get out of hand, it was at an employee.
