My ex-wife is a heroin addict who is in methadone "treatment". She is coming after my children that I have had 75% custody of since the seperation. She has told the court that she is in treatment, but family and friends state that she is currenty back on heroin and maybe abusing her methadone. My problem is that the county court's drug test is a hair test and only shows up "opiates". My lawyer is convinced that no other test will work. I am desperate to find a test that will either show heroin and methadone seperate, or will show she's abusing her doses. This woman walked out of her family's life and five years later has no job, income, and has another child out of wedlock. I have three children that are scared to death to be with her, and when they do, they always come back emotionally scarred. Please help! Thanks
A blood test and urine test will show if still using heroin , methadone will also show in both. she will have to be tested for both heron and meth to be on the safe side. hope this helps

Pharmacies in the UK distribute Methadone to Heroin users to help them to eliminate the use of heroin, reducing the death rates and criminality associated with heroin use, and allows patients to improve their health and social productivity.
Is it good in Islam to help these people? Or are we (by paying taxes) encouraging them to take heroin; and even if they do they know they can easily get help?
my partner has a severe neck problem ,when it kicks in she is in extreme pain and ends up unable to move for up to two weeks and then another two weeks to get mobile again ,she went into the chemist to pick up an emergency script for anti inflamitrese, she was in extreme pain and she was made to wait for 30min as everytime she was due to be served a junkie would come in and all non junkie customers were ignored until they were given their bit on the side methadone, now i know there are some legite people with a heavy habit that are genuinly trying to go clean but for every one thers ten topping up metadone with blues smack and any other downer they can get their hands on,and you are correct we the hard working 9-5 brigaide are footing the bill ,i resent completely this service it is a massive failure ,it is a top up funded by you and me.politicians have not got a clue as the have no concept of the street.FACT.when my lottery ticket comes in i will buy a island with bad weather as many killer infections as i can afford ,because i do,nt think the death rate should be reduced we should increase it !.no one goes down that road blind so let them reap what they sow,and save you and me a few bob i can think of a million and one things i would rather have my large tax bill spent on.they are takers and will take at every operchancity.anyone who thinks differently is unaware of how these people operate.wake up political correctness has gone way way over the top.

Someone I knew at school has recently passed away in his sleep. He had been relatively fit and healthy and full of life in the week leading up to his death. The night he died he had been drinking and had also taken methadone (he had never taken heroin before though, but had taken most other drugs in his time).
Why did he die? Did he 'forget' to breathe? Did the combination cause his heart to stop? What would it have been?
I will appreciate your input. Thankyou x
i had a friend die from taking methadone by itself.
Its a very dangerous combination, and between the two it more than likely slowed his heart rate so much it just completely stopped. im sorry for the loss...

these kids playing with pain pills now and all these only recent Methadone deaths?Methadone has been around for YEARS. Did Heroin addicts just know what to do with it better?
It is sad that people of all ages turn to drugs. I don't think banning them though is the answer. There are possibly hundreds of ways to get high. I do think though that Oxycontin should be treated as a special class of medicine that would make it harder to get a prescription for and not as easy to be stolen. I think people need to be better educated to the dangers of all drugs. Sometimes information is hidden in the fineprint. We need more of a peer pressure for people to not abuse any drug.
what are the chances of overdose while taking these medicationsand might this result in death?
The main danger is death. Methadone is a very powerful drug, it is used to curve cravings of heroin so go figure. Xanax (Alprazolam) is also a very powerful sedative, when the two are combined the depress the central nervous system very quickly, as you probably have already found out.
Also they can cause your breathing to slow down or even stop. The way overdose works is that you fall asleep then your breathing stops.
Both Methadone and Xanax are great drugs separately, just don't mix them. It doesn't take much to kill you either, as little as 25mg of Methadone and 2-4mg of xanax combined have been known to cause death. Google Xanax+Methadone+Death and you will get tons of examples.
And as far as your Doctor that prescribed both of them together, I'd find a new Dr. who knows his meds and has your best interest in mind.
Any street level user can tell you that those are two drugs you never want to mix unless you just don't care what happens.

Heroin Is Serious Concern In New Mexico, Alcohol Treatment and Rehab
Health Secretary Alfredo Vigil, MD, said the most recent drug overdose data shows that the heroin problem continues to be a serious concern in New Mexico. The New Mexico Department of Health analyzed the last decade of drug overdoses due to heroin and found that the rates have fluctuated but remained relatively steady. There was a rise in heroin-related overdoses in 2008, similar to the rate in 1998.
The rate of total unintentional drug overdose deaths was 17.5 deaths per 100,000 people in 2007 and 19.6 deaths per 100,000 in 2008, according to New Mexico Office of Medical Investigator data that the Department of Health analyzed. The increase in drug overdoses was predominately due to heroin deaths. Prescription drug deaths held steady during this time, compared to a considerable increase the previous year.
“Too many New Mexicans are dying of drug overdoses, a last step in a long chain of events for people who use drugs,” Dr. Vigil said. “We must determine how we can create better interventions at earlier steps, including identifying adolescents at risk through our school based health centers and community programs.”
