I want to get your opinions. How can addiction treatment benefit society as a whole and not just the patient? I'm planning on doing a paper on this to get extra credit for a class of mine. I just want to see what other people think. Thanks.
Yes. Addiction treatment is definitely good for our society. Addiction treatment gets to benefit society because for every addict that gets treated, there's one individual brought back to sobriety, to productivity. Researches show that drug addicts are more likely to get affected and spread diseases such as HIV and AIDS. They are also more likely to showcase violent behavior. These can be avoided if they undergo addiction treatment, which is also for the betterment of society.

We're going to be moving there at the end of the month, and I want to know how I'm going to be able to find the right addiction treatment center for my husband. He's been into alcohol for years now, and has only recently consented to being subjected to treatment. Help please.
I did a little research regarding the available treatment centers in Oklahoma. Just click on the links below. I hope those will be of help to you. If you want more options, I suggest that you look through the telephone directory. Good luck! I'm going to keep your husband's recovery in my prayers.

My husband has been addicted to alcohol for years now. Recently, I gave him an ultimatum. Either he gets himself treated, or I'm filing for divorce. He now agrees to having himself treated. I was just wondering whether anyone could give me any ideas on how to find a good addiction treatment center.
Consult your doctor. He may be able to give you a list of addiction treatment centers in your area. You can also go to the nearest hospital and get recommendations from there. It's a good thing that you got your husband to finally agree to getting a treatment, although it's sad that it took a threat of divorce to make that happen. I hope he gets well soon. Good luck!
I want to find addiction treatment centers because I'm planning on being an addiction counselor. I have seen a lot of lives get ruined by drugs and alcohol, and I figured I might as well do something about it. I just want to talk to people who are also addiction counselors so that I may know how to become one.
Wow. That's really great. It's a very noble dream to pursue. I think you have to take up a few courses or a program in order for you to become an addiction counselor. A background in psychology would be of help too. As for finding addiction treatment centers, the links below will surely help you. Good luck!
I know there are people out there who would say that the person has to hit rock bottom first, that he has to do it on his own... But I have heard of cases wherein the addict was forced to undergo addiction treatment, and that worked well. I just want to convince my sister to get herself treated for her alcohol addiction.
I think it's really good that you're so concerned about the welfare of your sister. You see, a lot of people who are dependent upon a substance don't realize that they have a problem. One thing I think you can do is to talk to her when she's sober. If that doesn't work, then maybe you should do an alcohol intervention for her. You can talk to an intervention specialist about this. This is a process aimed to get the person to undergo treatment. Good luck!

First-of-its-kind Internet addiction treatment center opens in the ...

Raise your hand if you consider yourself an Internet addict. Go ahead, no one here will judge you. (How could we: all of us are online at least 12 hours per day.) The thing is, if you feel like your addiction actually represents a legitimate problem, fear not, for a new “detox” center, reStart Internet Addiction Recovery Program , has opened near Seattle. It’s the first of its kind in the U.S., and it will “help internet and video game addicts overcome their dependence on gaming, gambling, chatting, texting and other aspects of Internet Addiction.”
Before we go any further, to see if you might benefit from he 45-day, $14,500 program, have a look at the center’s questionnaire . (For the record, I answered three questions with a “yes.” The thing is, even though I spent an ungodly amount of time online, I’d throw my computer into the Hudson River if at all possible.) If you answered four with a “yes,” then, according to the center, you have a problem. Let’s go get you some help.
